Leicestershire & Rutland War Memorials Project
Leicestershire County Council is compiling an index for all war memorials in Leicestershire and Rutland, and already over 1,800 war memorials and gravestones have been recorded. They are also recording information about the people who are commemorated on the counties' war memorials, including photographs, documents, and biographical information wherever possible.
Our WFA Branch fully supports this very important project.

The Branch also supports the work of the Leicester City, County & Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project (aka ARWMP). The Project's aims are to preserve or rescue war memorials throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that are at risk of loss, damage or decay. The Project has successfully recovered memorials from a variety of locations e.g. redundant churches and chapels, social clubs, schools and old industrial buildings that that have either closed or been redeveloped.
